Achieving the First Time Printer Setup
- Remove the printer from the package
- When you setup the 123.hp.com/setup printer for the first time, ensure to check if you have received all the list of times when you remove the printer out of its packing
- Raise the lid of the scanner
- Remove the packing tape around the scanner
- Take away the tape and packing material from the ink cartridge access area and the cleanout area
- Remove all relevant stickers present on the 123.hp.com/oj3838 printer’s control panel too
- Extend and push the paper tray forward until it clicks – remove the packing tape around all the material
- Turn the printer on and plug it into a power source
- To fully configure the 123.hp.com/setup, set Preferences, first
- Then, on the control panel, press the down arrow and select the language and then again to Set Country/Region
- Click on Yes
- Pull the paper tray and tray extender outward to load the papers
- Adjust slider width guides to align the papers
- Push and click the paper tray forward into place
- Lift the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to move itself into an accessible position
- Open the cartridge out of the package and remove the plastic tape from the top of it without touching the ink nozzles
- Load the ink cartridges through the cartridge access door
- Continue the (123.hp.com/setup) setup after keeping the carriage idle and silent for sometime
- The ink carriage slot lid has to be lifted
- Press the cartridges in till they snap into their places
- Close the lid to secure the cartridges
- The access door of the print cartridge can now be closed and the cartridges aligned according to the instructions on the control panel
- The printer recognizes the alignment of the ink cartridges and prints an alignment page
HP Officejet 3838 Cloud Print
The Google Cloud Print is a free service, which is designed to print documents from any network-enabled device to your HP Officejet 3838 printer
The function does not require any software or driver download
To activate Cloud Print:
- Chrome, OS X v10.7, Linux, Windows XP or newer are standard browsers and operating systems that are compatible with Cloud Print
- The first step to enabling Cloud Print is to create a Google account
- Connect the printer and the device to the same network
- The HP Officejet 3838 printer can now be on
- Use the Chrome browser to Sign in your Google account
- Click on Show Advanced Settings by opening the Settings window
- The Manage button will allow you to select Google Cloud Print
- Register your 123.hp.com/oj3838 printer under New devices, where it will be listed
- Select Show Advanced Settings in theSettings window
- Choose Manage, if the printer is already listed under My devices
Enabling Printing:
- Open the Chrome browser
- Sign in to your Google account
- Select Google Cloud Print Jobs and click on Print
- Click on Upload a file to Print
- Choose the option Select a file from my computer
- Open the document to print
- Click on the print command

- Select ePrint and then Off from the Web Services Settings menu to turn off ePrint
